5 questions to : SXMSON - #PLEASEDONTTALKABOUTLOVE

Hi SXMSON, you recently recorded a song with VERO on YouTube. How did it go ?

It was actually such a sick experience. I was excited to be asked to be part of Vero's new project, and the day itself was super positive. At times I felt a little overwhelmed because I wasn't expecting such a big production, but the team working around me were really welcoming and this made me feel super comfortable in the studio.

The song will be part of your future EP, why did you choose this one ?

So, originally I had planned to perform a previous release of mine called Smile, but changed my mind a couple of days before, which I don't regret. Ultimately, I wanted to show people new music that I've been working on. The main reason I chose to perform (Please Don't) Talk About Love, was because I love how the song is a little cheeky, especially when performed acoustically.

Your recent collaboration with Laidback Luke is a hit single on Spotify , were you expecting it ?

I actually really wasn't! The session itself happened because of a last minute cancellation the night beforehand. I was asked to come in and write for Luke and he ended up loving the track with my vocals too. When I heard that he and his team wanted to release it as his first single of 2020, I was buzzing.

Your next EP will be released later this year and it will be called "No Love" could you tell us more about it ?

"No Love" is a project that I'm really excited for you guys to hear. Each song has its own identity and personal message which is related to different feelings that I've experienced when it comes to love. I feel blessed to have made the project with my friend Benji Winters (EMRE), who co-wrote and produced the tracks because it really allowed the whole project to flow naturally and feel super cohesive.

Your song is called "(Please Don't) Talk About Love", and your EP is "No Love" are you kind of scared when it comes to "Love"?

I do think that sometimes I confuse the word "love" with "commitment". I think that most people in the world are looking for the feeling that love brings and I've definitely experienced it in many different forms, but yes there have been many times when I have closed myself off and run away because of the fear of getting too close to somebody. I try to get a balance between listening to my heart but also using my head to understand my emotions. The EP title itself, No Love, has a multitude of meaning, which will hopefully become more clear when the project is released this year!

Ta chanson s’intitule (“Please Don’t) Talk About Love” et ton EP “No Love.
